MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 fuel lines
has anyone got any photos of the fuel lines at the front end of the tunnelnot sure how to route them across form the end of the long run over to the pump. |

Mark, as I recall on my 1500 the fuel pipe crossed over along the front edge of the battery shelf. Or rather it was clipped to the air channel section on the leading edge below/ in front of the heater. The reason this sticks in my mind is that I had repeated problems of fuel vaporising in that section of pipe where it passes very close to the rear of the hot cylinder head. I eventually worked out what was happening and wrapped that section with insulation and aluminium foil which cured it. |

Mark. I don't have a photo but at the end of the long run under the floor there's a short flexible hose then into steel pipe that goes up and over the gear box. It crosses over the gearbox at the front of the cover plate and is held in place by a metal P clip that uses one of the cover plate bolts to hold it in place. It the comes around the left side of the bell housing and connects to the top of the pump with short flexi hose. Bob |

That is definitely different to the pipe that I recall having vaporisation problems with. What I describe must have been the delivery pipe from the pump across to the carbs. |

Is there a way of jointing fuel line without the rubber tubing, i am thinking of routing the front piece under the battery tray so the rubber bit joining the tank feed pipe could be a solid join as it is awkward to replace and modern fuels seem to eat rubber tubing. |

Modern fuels don't eat modern fuel hoses, very old and very tired rubber hoses or piss-poor made rubbish rubber hoses will give out though. |

Hard fuel line can be flared just the same as hard brake line can. It can then be joined with a hard coupling fitting or to a flared fitting flexible hose. |

job done fuel lines fitted and jointed
