MG Midget and Sprite Technical - '62 Sprite - studs on the wheel wells?
While i've owned over 30 cars (mostly american muscle), I now find myslef with my first British car, a 1962 Austin Healy Sprite squarebody, Chassis #1803, VIN 2244 - so VERY early car. Being my first, it has been a HUGE learning curve, so pardon my ignorance upfront. I am replacing the interior and I have studs mounted on the wheel wells and I can't figure out what they are for, but look factory done. I was just going to cut them off and carpet over it, but before I did, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Can anyone tell me the purpose of these? They are on both sides (see yellow arrow in pic.) Thanks. ![]() |

Yes, shoulder belts were optional, as were the lap belts, which you will also find the anchor points for. And a small miracle that you still have the correct nuts. FRM |

Bob, Quickfit Safety Belt Services do fittings to fit but they are not cheap. Trev |
