MG Midget and Sprite Technical - ARP bolts - What torque?
So I plummed for the ARP con rod bolts in the end as they weren't that much more expensive that the standard cosworth. Should i be using ARP's specified torque of 45Nm, or is that the torque only for use in the Ford? |

I asked this recently about the cosworth bolts. As they were specified with a lower torque than the standard Triumph bolts. Response was to torque them to the specified bolt torque. With ARP fasteners doesn't the specified torque require the use of their proprietry tread lubricant? Malcolm |

The ARP torque is with the ARP lube. Without use the normal torque |

Isn't the phrase 'Standard Cosworth' somewhat of an oxymoron when one is discussing a Triumph 1500 rebuild... ;o) |

Thats what I was trying to get to the bottom of James. Is the ARP torque for: a) the bolt or b) the bolt in the Ford Cosworth engine I've put it in at the stated torque with their lubricant as per their instructions. I'm sure it will be fine, but wanted to check. |

Let me throw "Another" wrench in the mix Which ARP lube are you using...??? Because that will also greatly effect what the torque spec you will need to use There are 3 types 1....30W motor oil... This has a high torque spec 2....the orginal melbdenon paste....this is a lower torque spec then 30w motor oil 3....the ne ultra slick lube... This lube is the lowest torque spec lube for arp My understanding the melbdenum paste has been discontinued...so you may have just 2 options Whos hungry for fubar Prop |

You torque according to ARP specs ...no longer with haynes specs unless you go back to factory hardware |
