MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Bearings (not wheel!!). Any experts?

Hello.
Are there any experts on here who could point me in the right direction for some small bearings?
I'm trying to put a small alternator onto a 1920's Austin Seven and need to make the fan pulley go from a bronze bearing bush to something a bit more sturdy. I can lathe up a new pulley and get dimensions but am not savvy enough on beraings to chose a suitable one or to find a good supplier.
Any takers???? :o)

Rob,

Have a look at needle roller bearings if you want low profile http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/needle_roller_choice.php , maybe drawn cup needle roller bearings will do for your use. IIRC the drawn cup ones can be bought with integral seals. If thrust loads are light then some simple washer may do. If you can fit them then standard deep groove ball bearings with seals might be the best way to go.

Thanks David.
Looks like an ideal site. When I get close to ordering could I run my final plan past you? You seem to have a good handle on these sorts of things.

Rob,

No problems feel free.

Rob sorry to have never replyed for the laser cut flanges.
But I have found out a friend has all flanges for triple M cars in stock!
And that is always cheaper than having a single one made.

Now to be "usefull" and alternator on a pre war you naughty boy ;)

David Harries in Whitland stock a massive amount of bearings.

Rob, Did you know you can trick the standard dynamo to give out 12v with a different control unit? A friend's 1927 A7 had it done may years ago. The 6v starter works superbly on 12v!

Onno. No probs. Do you have any idea how much for an MG M-type manifold plate?

Neil and Richard. Thanks for the tips.
I'm trying to ditch the dynamo completely since it seems to struggle to produce anything resembling light without burning the windings.

Pics will follow!
