MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Bonnet cable attachment

Evening, I'm in the final throws of a 3 year rebuild and whilst I took plenty of pictures of everything I've come to put the bonnet catch and cable mech back together and I'm a bit stuck with the outer cable fixing at the bonnet catch end. Whilst its obvious where the inner cable attaches on the latch I can't see where the outer is fixed to the valance/latch. All the manuals/parts catalogues do not show it in any detail. Can anyone explain or provide a picture of the correct setup.
Best regards,

Simon,
mine just pokes through the grommet and that's it - not saying that's correct but it works and is easy to grease or spray inner cable through grille
Nigel Atkins

Simon, there should be a tiny hole in the metal and you push the cable through it. The outer cable is held back behind the metal. See my photo to make this clear. I have arrowed the hole.

Here's another view.

cheers Mike i'll look for that hole next time I take the rad grille out - if I don't forget

Excellent, thank you very much Mike. No wonder I couldn't work it out. I bought a new complete cable from MGB Hive a few moths ago. The inner of the supplied cable is far too short and does not reach the catch clamp when poked through the hole. The cable has the newer style tee pull rather than the round pull (NLA) so I wonder if they have sent me an MGB cable by mistake. Thanks again Simon
