MG Midget and Sprite Technical - bugeye/frogeye undernose question
I am restoring a bugeye nose and I have a question about the actual shape of the nose below the grill. I am not sure if there is supposed to be a flat section low on front like my nose currently has, or if mine had a run in with a curb. (see image). Maybe someone who has an unmolested bonnet could take a photo of that location. Brett ![]() |

Graham, I can't tell because of the light and the angle if yours has the flat or not. I looked at bugeye images for a while today and I did see one that has the flat exactly like mine. Most of the other photos I saw where impossible to detect from the angle or lighting. |

Brett / Graham Grahams car is correct. The underpanel should flow without flats. Alan ![]() |

I agree it should be a smooth curve. Was too dark last night but here is an image of my unrestored front: Bill ![]() |

Wow, I am glad I asked. I have two original bonnets and they did not offer a good clue because one was hit for sure and the better one must have damage from a curb stop. The damage is so uniform and symmetric, I thought it was part of the original design. Brett |
