MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Cant get the snail to align in the frog!

This should be simple, but its probably me thats the simple element.
I cant get the snail blower to align with my heater unit in the car. See pictures below:
Have I got the wrong parts or am I just not seeing something?

Got that part, the problem is gross misalignment See Photo

This was how the heater in my Frogeye was aligned too. Bending the iron strips of the bakelite heater helped. Be careful you can not bend the bakelite! only the strips.

Flip Brühl

Have you tried installing with all the nuts and bolts loose, apply pressure to align as best as you can then tighten everything down. A bit of a faff I know but it sometimes works. You can also do as Flip suggests but if it is still grossly miss aligned then slotting the holes will help.

Thanks for the advice. I couldnt believe that the parts could be so misaligned with out me making a mistake of some sort!
I'll see what a little judicious application of brute force can do on the brackets.

I had a similar issue so I made a 10mm thick aluminium spacer to fit under the heater box. The shape mimicked the box with the large slot.

just looking at the same solution for the Frog. 10mm looks about right.

I found that the motor touched the bulked so I couldn't bend into the right position.

Is this a different body shell or different heater/motor? Can't see why it wouldn't align otherwise.

Hi Bill
the shell has been totally rebuild to original spec.
The heater motor also has been rebuilt / restored with original bits.
I think that if I put a 10mm space under the heater case as per Alans solution, it will bring the parts into alignment.
