MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Carb adjustment

just reading workshop manual prior to balancing carbs noticed an adjustment i dont think is possible must be miss print i hope. (9.31 mm)?

mark 1500 nearly on the road

I set it to ..... well ..... so it works OK. Just make sure they both pull at the same time by tightening clamps up the same. The clearance is there for no pull when the temperature changes and to take pressure off the cable to minimise tension, stretch and therefore replacement intervals I think. Anyway, as far as I can tell the dimension is not critical. I may stand corrected by someone but I have gone through this at least 4 times this year and it makes no difference to the operation of the mixture as far as #I can tell..

Mark,
try the Driver's Handbook instead !
Nigel Atkins

Nigel checked both hayens and handbook when i saw it said 9.31mm as the gap in the forks is only 6 or 7 mm i have 2 different copies of mg manual both say 9.31mm obviously missed at proof reading

yes there are errors in Haynes and the factory workshop manual but as only one small general illustration error has been found in the various Driver's Handbook over the model years they seem by far the most reliable :)

just realised it would be 0.31mm so a typo of one digit

Errors in our manuals.....NO! Say it isnt soooo.

Whats next walls in peoples homes not square ....that would never happen, could it?
