MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Carpet Clips

When fitting carpets, do people use the carpet clips as per Fig 18 in the below link?

http://www.victoriabritish.com/interiors/sm/

Or do you use velcro or something else?

I tried the clips, they just seemed a bit fiddly and then it broke apart when trying to remove the carpet.

Looking for ideas.

The problem with velcro is attaching the velcro to the surface... I did commercial industrial velcro for my interrior panals and the glue is breaking down and dosnt have the stick it once did

Probably best to rivit/screw the velcro to the car...even hot glue sticks doesnt hold well

My carpet is glued to the floor, I got a big nice peice of auto carpet and had pros cut glue and install, it looked great

Eventually I want to remove all my panals except for door panals and cap, and carpet the entire interior

More room, easier to clean and maintain, while giving it a more modern conservative appearance

Good luck.

I used the standard carpet clips. It means the carpets can be removed easily for cleaning (and drying out!). Not had a problem with them breaking.

Carpet fitters tack spray stuff. Just enough grip to make it all stay together and little enough to remove without much effort and mess. All my carpets are cheap pieces of black cut by me and stuck if they tend to move about.

Throw away when excessively messed up rather than working hard to keep clean. (two pieces one on top of the other on the footwall floor; top one for throwing).

Daily driver approach!

Thanks for the ideas. I might try velcro and see how it goes and if that doesn't work I may end up gluing it down.

I need to get this thing on the road, I am rapidly running out of time for finishing it "properly" :-(

Malc,
have tried velcro. Lasted about a week on the driver's side :(
Added rubber mats (logo'd variety) and now the carpets stay put :)

One thing I did that was a great idea, I used a generic danamat, its sticky squares 16 x 16 inches thats a sound deadener... I covered as much of the interior as I could before the carpet and trim panals

It really made a big differance in noise reduction
