MG Midget and Sprite Technical - competition half shafts NMC

A good pal of mine has modded his FWD escort and needs stronger drive shafts. Is there a 'go to' manaufacturer out there that some of the race boys might know of ?
Just looking for recommendations. . . .
P Bentley

Where is he having trouble, with the shafts themselves or the joints
The usual problem is the splined shaft spinning off the outer joint, this is solved by fitting good quality cv's like Longfield Joints

Someone like GKN Motorsport might be a good place to start http://www.gknservice.com/global/motorsport/cv_shafts_joints.html .

I know nothing about Ford stuff, excepting the T9, but Burton Power seem to have a selection:

Thanks Gents
Will.
the issue was he has broken the shaft more or less in the middle. . . a run at Santa Pod was the instigator !
Dave & Guy, apprciate the web info, will pass it on.
He is running close to 300BHP apparently, so its going to be something beefy to sort this.

P Bentley,

Which FWD Escort as IIRC they used differing length drive shafts at the front and some were tubular in the centre, the offside IIRC for RHD. Lancia ran that on the early Betas but had issues with torque steer which was solved by fitting equal length drive shafts each side and a quill shaft from the final drive output to the offside driveshaft to allow for equal angular movement. Whether that possible on the Escort I don't know, also some of the shafts on some cars had a weight added IIRC to correct whirling behaviour which could occur. Whirling is a problem common to rotating shafts which can lead to them whipping and destroying themselves see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_speed#Critical_speed_of_shafts . The issue may not be as simple as the shaft not being strong enough, any pics of the break.

Try Quaife: https://quaife.co.uk/contact-quaife/

What Mk Escort is it and is is still based on that model, rather than running Escort/Sierra based four wheel drive kit, such as special rally and rallycross cars e.g. From Gatrac (also worn a call): http://www.gartrac.com/company/gartracG6.htm

I don't know my Fords particularly well, but its effectively an RS Turbo set up in an XR3i body.....as i see it anyway. The owner would cringe at what i have just typed, but that's 85% accurate.
I have driven the car at it torque steers as suggested, and yes the driveshafts are of different lengths, so how he gets round that i will learn in time.
As you might imagine its super quick, but its come with its headaches, and this driveshaft thing is one of them. Whether they were RS shafts in the first place i am not sure, but i am grateful on his behalf for the answers/links provided, all of which i will pass on.
