Does it say 16 T or EN40B somewhere ...I cant see any writing in the photos Nice looking, I dont see alot of scuffing on the journals...looks almost like its ready to go Prop |

The fact that it's cross-drilled would suggest that it's probably an EN40, but you ideally need to check the numbers on the webs to be sure. |

Thanks for the replies There are no visible markings on the crank at all. (i am going to try some brass running techniques later) I would have though it was a EN16 crank but the as it's from a 12CE engine but being cross drilled has confused me. What I am interested to know now is are the EN16 cranks cross drilled? John |

Well...to add to your confusion, En16 was and probably wasnt orginally and did not end its life very well On mine the crank was cross drilled and it busted completely in half at the cross drill on the # 4 rod or the 3rd main, I dont recall... apperantly its a common place for the crank to bust.... This happened with little warning, just some random spikes and falls in the oil pressure about 200 miles before it went bang boom bamb along the road It was a deep trama that I still cant get over... and lead me to go over board on a EN40B crank to ensure that never happens agian..I know pirates tin foil on the head kind of wierd...haha If its cross drilled and an en16, I cant offer anything positive to say...im just to scared Prop |

Can you do the ol childrens tomb stone pencil and paper scrub tracer and lift the image of the code that way Prop |

EN16 cranks weren't cross-drilled as standard, although it's not an uncommon modification on a modified engine. Has one of the webs got a flat on it where it appears to have been ground?...and a round depression about 3mm diameter? |

John bring it over here and compare with one of my spares... |

Prop I am going to do the tombstone trick that is what we call brass rubbing over here. The engine was rebored +20 thou so maybe the crank was cross drilled at this time. Thanks Dave I'll send you and email about popping over Cheers Everyone John |
