MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Crankshaft Oil Thrower

I have upgraded my 1098 motor to a Duplex timing chain set-up. Does anyone know if it is necessary to fit the oil thrower from a 1275 or is it OK to re-use the 1098 oil thrower ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't remember offhand, but you may need to do some careful measuring to see if it will clear the timing cover.

Thanks for that. I'm using the timing cover with the breather in it, rather than the 1098 version. Not sure if this is relevant though !

I did the same job on my mk3 Sprite (1098) and I used the original thrower without any problem. I used the original breather from the tappet chest.
I assume you have done away with the tappet chest breather and fitted a blanking plate.

Bernie,
Thanks for your reply.
I was planning on keeping the tappet chest breather as well as the breather on the timing cover,on the assumption that this would prevent excess pressure building up in the block. Am I barking up the wrong tree here ?

The last time I fitted a duplex to a small-bore engine was over 20 years ago. I probably used the original thrower.

As for the breather, the more the merrier!

Thanks Dave. Appreciated.
