MG Midget and Sprite Technical - dating distributors

Looking for confirmation here Chaps...My 40819 distributor has been on my GAN4/12CC car since at least 1975 ['cos I've owned it since then] and there is a number stamped on the casing beneath the id number - "1166". Were these date stamped?? It would tie in with its manufacturing date [Nov-Dec 1966]from the heritage cert.

The first two numbers are the week of manufacture and the second two are the year. So your distributor was made early March 1966

Im going to suggest a weekend retreat for you and your distributor at the 32nd annual poison oak festival comming up in sept.

It promises to be a ""ITCHY"" good time... bring your own calamine lotion if wish to explorer thur touch...haha

No really, its a real weekend event in sept. Even poison ivy and sumac plants are.welcomed but kept on a leash
