MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Diff Filler plug
Hi guys, bought new diff filler plugs and these ones have a torx / star drive thing....does anyone know what size torx/ stardrive bit I need to install these? I don't have any of these type of bit. The internal size appears to be about 1 cm according to my vernier, but my 1 cm, allen key is NBG. Any help would be great - cheers colin |

Colin Maybe get a multi bit torx set from e.g. Halfords - the different sizes may come in handy if you get a different modern car as many moderns use torx. The set will almost certainly cover your plug size. Note that star are different from torx so you need to be sure which you need. |

Col--If you measure as accurately as possible the smaller dia (As in what sized drill bit fits in there) and the max.at the ends of the slots , i can measure a Torx bit and give you a number------ |

Hi William, Went to measure them and whilst rummaging, found a brand new pair of filler plugs- the old style which take a socket, ...which I had completely forgotten about, so threw the " new" ones in my bits box for another day Many thanks for your kind offer though!! ATB colin |

The website that Willie linked to is from a Taiwanese toolmaking company called Tien-I. I just had a poke around the site from idle curiosity and spotted this picture. It's very tongue in cheek and in fairness there's a disclaimer that dogs (especially dachshunds) should not be subjected to heavy loads, but I just liked the picture. (Love dogs BTW, especially daxies). ![]() |

Uncle GB - Your pic reminded me of a mate here, he was changing the rear muffler on his BMW, it was one of them with a band around it with the mounting on that, Got the old muffler off, took the mounting band off ready to fit it up to the new muffler, then the neighbour's playfull dog came in , grabbed the band in his mouth for a play and did a runner with it--It was an interesting few mins. chasing him around trying to get it back-- |

GB, I see a tool pooch wearing a tool pouch, could be handy if fitted with the right set of spanners and comes on command, |
