Hi Bob,
You should find a corresponding pair of pegs fastened at the top of the forward facing section of the heelboard - that is the vertical face behind the seats. A bit of experimenting and you will find that by folding the front half of the tonneau cover back on itself, underneath, and fixing these flaps to the studs, you create a nicely weathertight storage compartment behind the seats, accessible via the central zip.

I suspect that the handbook illustrates it but I don't feel like going to check in mine. Experimentation is more fun!

Just returned from a a little drive around town on a glorious New England day, and looking at the half tonneau it occurred to me the only place that it should go is down so feeling around the tunnel I found the studs. Didn't consider out of sight storage though. Thanks for the reply

Bob,
bear in mind what you put under there could get very warm, it's surprising how warm under the full spread out tonneau can be so a smeller area would warm up quicker and probably get warmer
Nigel Atkins

What's a smeller area?
Steven Devine

I think Nigel is referring to the area behind his seat.
Guy Weller

LOL Guy.

Ambiguity caused by my poor communication skills, Lawrence.

I did notice the typo but only after the editing guillotine, I didn't think it'd go unnoticed or without comment
Nigel Atkins

Yes they attach the tonneau neatly behind the seats. but I've found a secondary use. My patented tonneau-lifter. Lifts the centre of the tonneau slightly to help rain fall away from the zip!

Genius; like all good ideas, blindingly simple and effective. 'why didn't I think of that?'
David Smith

Andy, now that IS brilliant! My car spends most of its time reliant on the tonneau to keep it dry when parked overnight on the drive throughout the year. But the central zip is the weak point. I sometimes use bamboo canes across between the door tops, but that is only partially successful. This idea of yours is much better!
Guy Weller

Am already fabricating in my mind a skyhook with some bungi cord sitting on a shelf in my garage to pull the tonneau up fastened with a few small hooks, again sir a genius conceptual idea. Nigel to hell with the rest of these blokes, as I, a gentleman of superior breeding like yourself, have disdain for cold smellers at tea time as well.
Thanks all for the input
