MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Door Check Strap Query

Hi all,
Mk III RWA.
Just noticed that my checkstrap has come away from the door on the drivers side , leaving a small empty rectangle.
The checkstrap appears to be all present - is there something on the end of the check strap that fits inside the door to stop the check strap coming out?
I've checked in Moss / Sussex Classics & SC parts catalogues but cannot see anything relevant.
Is there a specific part,or is it just best to make up a plate to trap the strap on the door?
Can anyone help?

The checkstrap should have a metal strip through it at the door end.
