MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Dual gauge - what from?

Bit of a puzzle chaps, I have this dual oil & water gauge which is the same style as Spridgets but the gubbins at t he engine end is different. The sensor is fatter and the connector is a larger female threaded nut. Anyone know what it's from please?

Looks the same as my elan s4

Frogeye radiator sensor?

No, not a Frogeye. They have a male thread.
Martin

Elan it is, then. Hopefully makes it more valuable ;o)

Lotus being Lotus, I’m sure it would have beeen sourced from something mainstream, therefore cheap.

You could always try asking Richard Jenkins.

I have not got an answer what vehicle, but looks like something to go into a smaller diameter hose or perhaps engine block, rather than into main coolant hose fitting.

It's a K type fitting, see: https://www.smiths-instruments.co.uk/dual-gauges
& https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/smiths-classic-dual-gauge-with-degrees-c-temp-range-cb-dualc

Makes me think of cars like Lotus/Caterham Seven that may have had a temp sender in a top hose fitting and their low radiator in a nose cone, something like: but with a female fitting for the sender: https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/cooling/aluminium-hose-adaptor

Here is a photo of my Elan engine. You can see where the bulb fits in the centre of the cylinder head between cylinders 2 and 3. I don't have the car any more but it looks as though the component in your picture would fit there with the female thread.

Thanks all, the collective comes up with the goods yet again :-) especially Mike W for the links.
I suppose this'll be as near as I ever get to owning an Elan, one of my top 5 dream cars.
