MG Midget and Sprite Technical - eBay Warning

Don't be a fool like me - read eBay feedback before buying anything. Following on from a previous thread I ordered an inexpensive PCV valve which I was going to fit to the Sprite as an experiment to see if it would help with an oil drip and especially if it would affect carburetion. If it worked I would engineer something more permanent. I only checked the sellers feedback rating after about three weeks waiting for a delivery. It was 75% and many other buyers had reported him for non delivery. He totally ignored my messages. eBay have now refunded all my costs. Message is check and trust feedback.

75% is a low score for ebay feedback!
I always feel uneasy leaving feedback as "excellent" when what I would mean is a reasonable trading service, about what one should expect. Problem is if you start giving lower ratings for reasonable service you know it will impact poorly and unfairly on their score and the system also starts asking further questions and it becomes something of a hassle.

Also don't trust a high rating, in life there are bad sellers, and bad buyers, someone who has a lot of sales and 100% Feedback probably has had to pander to some bad or intolerant customers.

75% I'd totally avoid unless they only had 4, or perhaps 8, sales.

Having said that Jan has a product from a supplier of very high repute who some know to be poor and con-men.

Also, if you buy from a seller who immediately leaves positive feedback as soon as you pay, you cannot leave negative feedback when you find out it's rubbish. Rob

As a counterpoint, I have just received a refund of part of the postage for an item I purchased. The seller voluntary offered the refund as he said the cost of postage was cheaper than expected and he had made an error on the listing. First time that has happened to me since using the site!
