MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Filling wing trim holes. (Warning NTC,NFC)

Sorry folks but this warning is because it doesn't contain any mention of Trump nor Fidel. Bum, it does now!!!

Anyway, onto my question.

I have a really nice heritage shell that used to be a Mk3 Sprite but is becoming a Mk4 Sprite. Being Mk3 it came with holes in the wings for the trim clips. Becoming a Mk4 means I need to fill these in.

I don't want to use anything that requires heat. Any suggestions?

Glue coins on the back of the holes with an epoxy adhesive. Pennies work well' Once the glue has set then fill the hole with a blob of metal based 2-pack body filler, leaving slightly proud. Sand flat, prep and paint.
A bit Fidely but you can blow your own Trump-et when finished.

Eastwoods no weld hole repair kit available from frost might be worth a look at http://www.frost.co.uk/no-weld-hole-repair-kit.html

I like this stuff. This way I won't have to replace any body panels.

I know that it's for preserving the rat rod look which I've never understood. Why would you want to have a car that looks like it escaped from a scrappers?

Sorry about the thread hijack ;-)

I like Guy's approach because I've done almost the exact same myself. Except I glued the coins with a few dabs of cyanoacrylate (superglue). It doesn't stick particularly well to metal but enough to do the job and makes them easy to knock out afterwards. So you get the pennies back lol!
As for filler I like P40 better than P38 because it seems much less susceptible to absorbing moisture from the air. Also I like Guy's response for his puns which made me LMFAO!

Ho ho ho!
If you didn't live in Scotland, I might think you were from Yorkshire ! ;-)
