MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Front spings

The car is looking a bit lob sided!

I have just checked the height of both sides and there is approx 1inch difference with the rh, drivers side being the lower. The springs have been in for about 4 years and have probably done about 4,000 miles in that time.

I am planning on going on holiday in it on Thursday and will likely do about 4-500 miles in the week.

Should I change them before I go orotund it be ok to wait until I return?

Cheers

Tony

It can sometimes be caused by the rear springs.

It might be worth putting a jack under the diff, raising the rear wheels clear of the ground and then seeing if the front is still lop-sided.

If it's not the rear causing the problem, and you can't find another cause, 'and' you can be bothered; -- then swap the springs over left to right to left.

Otherwise, ignore it, and just enjoy the drive. I doubt it will cause you a problem.

Going anywhere nice?

Thanks guys

I will jack up the back a bit later and report back.

We are off to the Isle of Wight for a week, never been before so hopefully we will enjoy it, been to wales the last few years, so a bit flatter!

Be careful on the ferry!

Wouldn't want my Sprite under that lot Dave.

I've just re-read the original post. My first glance read it as, " -- will likely do about 4500 miles in the week. LOL.

If I'd read it properly, 4-500 miles in a week, I wouldn't have asked where you were going. After all, a trip to the local shops, is no trip at all; ).

I've just jacked the rear up and it's still the same so a job for when I get back.

I saw the article earlier this week Dave, it's unlikely to happen again so soon......

Maybe next year I will be a bit more adventurous with the mileage next year Lawrence!

You should join Alan Anstead on his annual to France Tony.

Have you been to the IOW yet or still due to go? There is a classic car meet any weekend now that's worth a visit. Bunch of other stuff worth a visit too - e-mail me if you want any recommendations.
Daniel Stapleton

Hi Daniel

We are there now and return on the 2nd august. I saw a sign for a classic show but I think it was after we leave :-(.
