MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Fuel inertia cut out switch

Seems like a good idea to fit one - any ideas where?

Easiest place to install it would be near the pump but under the dash would be better for re-setting. The wiring might be more of a challenge though?

I did wonder about in the boot by way of the holes I have run the fuel pump vent tubes through.

Thanks

On my MGB I have it on the heel board behind the passenger seat where I can reach it easily from the drivers seat. I used one from a classic Range Rover, like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/401578540706?chn=ps

The beauty of this switch is that you can pull up the plunger to cut off the pump as an additional security measure, or as an aid while doing maintenance when you might not want the pump working.

It should be easy enough to fit it under the dash and connect it where the front loom joins the rear.

Fit under bonnet, interrupt the (white?) Wire to the pump. Mines under there and cuts power to the pump relay (high pressure fuel injection pump)

Thanks I will have a look around and see where will be best and report back on what I decide.

I quite the idea of it being a sort of immobiliser as well but it would definitely to be somewhere I can reach from the drivers seat, given my memory

Mike, the wire that feeds the electric su pump is part of a bundle that come out of the bulkhead under/behind the Speedo, dips down behind the trim panel, travels along the floor at the outer edge near the sill before going into the rear structure. You may be able to interrupt this anywhere along that route, up above your right knee might be a good spot.
Rob Armstrong

"up above your right knee might be a good spot. "

That's the best spot, as that's where the front and rear looms join.
