MG Midget and Sprite Technical - HIF6 Lift pin ?
Am currently refurbing a HIF6 - trying to get it fitted and sorted for the MGCC rolling road @ Aldon in November - as a back to back test against my previous visit on 2 x 1.25HS2'. Seem to have a hole where possibly a lift pin was mounted - did HIF6's have lift pins as not shown in the manual I have ? Do I need to plug this hole ? or is it not an issue. Currently also have a replacement throttle spindle bar problem being too short to fit the return spring, but will talk to Burlen on Tuesday about that. R. |

Don't know the HIF6. Is it the same as the HIF44? If so, mine has a lift pin. |

The HIF6 is not the same as the HIF44 which is why it was given a different name. While the HIF6 is an inch and 3/4 the later produced HIF44 is fractionally smaller at 44mm. There are probably more variations of the HIF44 than the HIF6 including the turbo carbs and automatic choke versions. |

OK Daniel, but does the HIF6 have a lift pin? |
Mike Howlett |
Yes it does. Well the two on my V8 do :0) One of which was very seized after sitting around for ten years. Works fine now after a lot of swearing trying to free it off..... Fit a pin, spring and c spring clip or just plug the hole if you don't intend to use it. MGmike |
