MG Midget and Sprite Technical - how long will goodridge brakelines last

This PTFE lined product is guaranteed FOREVER. I bought it 8 years ago. When will I change it. I use Dot 4 in a single brake circuit....

When I worked on aircraft, rubber lined hoses had a life of 3 years, PTFE hoses were classed as on condition, with no set life. In other words, if there is no obvious damage, then they are safe.

You might find the fittings at each end will rust out before the hose fails. On the replacement lines I had made I opted for stainless steel fittings and clear plastic over tubing to prevent chafing damage.

Mine are 13 years old with no problems yet. But being a single circuit system I have been thinking of changing them just in case.

Gentlemen thank you for all the information, just what I needed. Daniel, Goodridge makes brake lines with stainless steel fittings for 3 pound more. They also make fuel lines on demand.

I've recently used Pirtek www.pirtek.co.uk to make a bespoke braided clutch hose for my Datsun gearbox. I've found them excellent and they have branches all over the place.
