MG Midget and Sprite Technical - ignition key screw and washer to pedal box

According to the MOSS catalogue the pedal box cover was secured by 3 screws, taptite and 3 locking washers as well as a separate screw and washer [top RHS] where the spare ignition key would have been mounted. { there is a picture of the ignition key in position in the Haynes manual.
This screw is listed as a different part number to the others, ZPT1006 AND THE WASHER AS 53K3157. Does anyone know if these are the original part numbers and if they are still available. The threads on my pedal box appear the same , what was the difference between this ignition key screw and the other screws used on the pedal box cover.

was that really for keeping a spare key, surely that would soon be known by thieves?

end of the catalogue will be a list of fixings and description against part number so have look there, I now avoid dealing with Moss so haven't got a copy of their catalogue but do know you can download pdf copies

Hi, It was placed there at the factory so in the event the original key was lost there would always be a spare, especially important when so many of them were exported! The Haynes manual clearly shows a picture of the ignition key in situ on the top rhs of the pedal box.
I have tried all the suppliers catalogues with no luck. I believe the thread to be identical as Ashley Hinton only supplies 4 identical screws for his remanufactured pedal box cover.Just trying to establish difference between this and the three other pedal screws and its Original part number.Normally the Ignition key would be removed during the PDI by the dealer but if not by the first owner.

Longer than the other 3 perhaps, to allow for the key thickness?
Guy Weller

My guess would be the same as Guy's.

all I could find was -

WL700101 is a single coil spring washer size 3/16"

so as 53K3157 is a plain washer I'd guess it's also 3/16" size

you could check to see of the 3/16" matches with the hole in the top of the key

as for the screw I could find as size but if you ask a supplier what size and thread AHA8076 is as Guy and Dave have put you could just get a longer one, it could be bolt style with the thread not going all the way up to the head

you could also try other fittings suppliers with those parts numbers, I saw a sit for trucks and buses that said they didn't do cars parts but if you spoke to them you'd probably find the trucks and buses used the same fittings
