I couldn't help thinking of Prop... "Hold my beer and watch this!" I think I might have been tempted to rig a remote ignition cutout though. Even a length of string round the plug cap, for ultimate redneck points. That throttle was doing nothing helpful. Good fun though, thanks Mark. |

Interesting watching the petrol vaporize. I knew the basic principle of how it works but visualizing it helps. And his "technical" descriptions are great. Turny thing and floppy-do are right out of Prop's dictionary ;-P From the T shirt he was wearing, they are south east of where Prop was. Dad's accent was definitely Southern "good ol' boy". |

Greybeard, The original carb probably did have an ignition kill contact as my Tecumseh engined mower has and my neighbour's old mower did. It kills the magneto when the throttle is fully closed. He may not have been aware of it and didn't include one in the demo carb. On my neighbour's engine it failed and stayed closed so stopped the engine running so I removed it and it ran fine till he scrapped it and got a new Honda mower, whether that has one I don't know. |
