MG Midget and Sprite Technical - just fitted ARB- :-)
Fitted a 5/8" ARB this weekend... Wow, big difference much better around the corners and also seems to be more stable in a straight line also. Best 109 pounds i have spent yet on the car (i bought a kit from moss). Had no ARB before... Only had a mounting on one of the 'chassis legs' before, so made some new strong ones using 4mm thick bar with nuts welded to them. Thanks to Bernie for taking me for a ride to show me how the car should be handling.... ![]() |

Hi Andy It looks to me like your chassis legs are seam welded rather than spot welded. If so you may be OK but even so keep an eye on this area as I've has the bottom layer of the legs pull off twice (caused by the greater stresses on the ARB) even though they were seam welded on the first occasion. I got them totally rebuilt last year after they ripped off a second time. You will feel the difference for sure! |

Wow 5/8... very manly, and lets face it, going 1 inch, would have been over the top just showing off....haha It looks very solid and well done I think you will be fine... enjoy the performance, I wish I was man enough for 5/8, my urine stream wont allow me beyound 3/4 Prop |
Prop and the Blackhole Midget |
Hi Chris, Well spotted... i had the edges welded up too... and cut away the square of old metal that would be under the new plate. Lots of flakey rust came out of the hole... Prop, isnt 3/4" actually bigger than 5/8" ? I chose 5/8" after plenty of reading, it seems to give the best compromise between ride comfort and performance... |

5/8 is just a hair bigger But your work looks very robust, I think you will really enjoy that upgrade Well done |

Prop - 3/4" = 6/8" ?? Wait until the US is part of the EU - you'll find metrication much easier... Glynn |
