MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Leaking Lucas

The flasher lamp-armature has water ingress. The lamps don't like that. (photo) Ik tried to seal the back, where the wires come in, with silicone kit, the front rubber seal with Waxoil. It was unsuccessful. Any help is appreciated.

If the old rubbers are hard they won't seal any more. Try replacing just the rubbers, I believe they are available on their own without the electrical bits

2X dom, if the rubbers are only slightly bad, you can resoften them by soaking them in a tub of vasoline (petroleum jelly) for a week or so

Flip,

Your photo doesn't show it so I want to ask just to make sure: you are also fitting the chrome retainer ring after you put in the glass, right?

They don't seal right without that trim ring.

Yes Norm

I use the chrome retainer and although the rubber does not look tired I' ll order new ones. Where do I get good quality?
Flip Brühl

good luck with finding good quality rubber -- how about AH Spares as they supply to the more expensive big Healeys you'd hope the quality is good (!??) - http://www.ahspares.co.uk/

ETA: how about using a bit of electrical contract grease on the base and wire connections (see two thirds down this page) - http://contralube.com/contralube-770/
