MG Midget and Sprite Technical - lockheed rear brake cylinders

Please confirm that original British Leyland part number for MG Midget rear brake cylinders GWC 1102 have the equivalent Lockheed part number 4241-239 when supplied as original part supplier to MG at Abingdon!
These are I believe 3/4 bore as fitted to many Classic Minis as their rear brake cylinders.
Mini spares supplies the modern equivalent under the old BL part number manufactured by AP Caparo who I believe have incorporated the former Lockheed brake division.
their modern day part number for AP rear brake cylinders
GWC 1102 retail @ a shade over £13 each but equates to closer to £17.50 each for two dispatched if you include P & P. Similar units appear on ebay for less but it is not clear that they are Lockheed or AP units. I fear that they are copies to imitate them.
Are there any stockists of AP rear brake cylinders in the Northants / Cambridge areas or is anyone aware of an ebay seller who sells this item. I just to wish the best quality unit available but at the most reasonable cost. can you help?

Try Powertrack brakes. They supply good quality either AP or Delphi cylinders by mail order

It depends which Midget you are referring to.

1275 & 1500 used different sized bores, and I believe that the 1098 was different again.

I did not realise that the BL part number supplied would not differentiate between models.
The rear brake cylinders are for a 1973 RWA MG Midget.
These cylinders i believe are 3/4" bore.It would be helpful if anyone can confirm whether the original Lockheed part number supplied by myself is in fact the correct one so that i can use all resources including autojumbles to access the original part. I have previously sourced a original Lockheed Slave Cylinder, which has been fitted for over 4 years now and working exactly as intended. I know it is all down to how these NOS items have been previously stored.

According to a pretty old parts book I've got, ---
GWC1102 is listed for both 1098 and 1275
GWC1129 is listed for 1500.

I found all these references that match gwc1102

So it appears you're are right. GWC1102 is also 4241-239.

I bought perfectly good GWC1102 (Quinton hazel) from a bloke on Ebay.

Try these.

Awesome cross reference work Lawrence! That list is going in my "keep" file.

As a follow up to OP's question:

"Similar units appear on ebay for less but it is not clear that they are Lockheed or AP units. I fear that they are copies to imitate them…. I just (wish to buy) the best quality unit available but at the most reasonable cost. can you help? "

Can anyone attest to whether there are "good quality" suppliers for rear cylinders and others which are not?

They seem to last only about 10 years and then they begin to leak. Maybe that is simply the nature of their simple design, and cars that don't get driven enough. Or, maybe there are cheap knockoffs that are poorly made and more prone to that.

If someone was making those parts and decided to put the part number "GWC1102" on them, the quality could still be essentially random (how to know if it is some Chinese knock off, or one made by a conscientious supplier which knowledge of what it takes to make them last)?

Does anyone have inside knowledge on this question?

"They seem to last only about 10 years and then they begin to leak."

I remember buying brake wheel cylinders direct from BMC, and putting a kit in them in less than 10 years. So if the ebay items are lasting the same, then they're as good as the originals it seems to me.
