MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Lucas 467 nut size?

Afternoon all, just wondered if anybody knows the nut size for the two integral bolts that secures the Lucas 467 rear number plate unit to the car?

Bought a nice 'preloved' unit but no nuts...!!! Thanks
M Weller

I'll hazard a guess they could be 2BA.
David Smith

Thanks, I'll pick some up.

M Weller,
you might find this link from Paul Hunt's excellent mgb-stuff website useful - Translate Fastener Part Numbers - http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/partnos.htm
Nigel Atkins

After a bit of googling and cross-referencing, it does appear to be 2BA, as David suggested.

The part number is AJD8012.

Re. Paul Hunt's list of BMC/BL fasteners/washers.

Astonishing. It's a labour of love, a work of art. It epitomises everything that is good about the internet! Thank you, Paul. (And Nigel, for listing it).
Andy Hock

2BA is probably correct or you could use No10-32. I know the spec. is slightly different but for practical purposes they are interchangeable.

Andy, I have a printed list of BLMC fasteners that must be at least 20 years old, pre-internet. I've used it about twice in that time. The point being, the part number for this enquiry isn't on it !!
David Smith

Andy,
have a look at the rest of Paul's site it's very comprehensive, especially appropriate to us is the 'Hammer and Spanner' section that although it's about MGBs much of the information also applies to Spridgets.

As with all things internet I'm not saying it's absolutely 100% correct or that I agree with absolutely everything stated but it's so very near it doesn't matter and the best site I've seen for such matters, well done Paul (a poster on the B sections of this site).

ETA: I put the list was put up for future reference and the info on it has helped me only this week.

Nigel Atkins

David and Nigel,
Thanks for your replies and the link to Paul Hunt's website. I'm speechless.

There must be a dividing line between 'devoted enthusiasm' and 'obsessive compulsive disorder'. And the line has probably been crossed.
Whatever - Paul Hunt is a hero, and I bow before him.
Cheers, guys.
Andy Hock

Andy,
I guess these things start small and then just grow and grow over the years but whatever these's obviously a lot of dedication and work gone into the site.

I'm with you in thanking Paul.
Nigel Atkins

All sorted, thanks all.
