MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Making my snail shine!
Hi all I have just disassembled my heater blower and given it a good wash. I now have two questions. First how do I make the outside look less 'used'. Is there some form of polish or spray that will make the platic shine? Also the bolts that hold the motor and air inlet on are toast. Originally the relied on being molded into the plastic of the snail to stop them from spinning. I am going to replace them, should I glue the heads into snail. If anyone else has done this, what glue works best? Cheers Tim |

Silicon polish makes black plastic look smarter. I have used silcon brake fluid before. As for the bolts, mine were the same so I have used long screws and nuts that go right through the casing. You have to put a metal sleeve over each screw inside the case to prevent the case being crushed, but it made a super job on my snail. |

Do explain further, I'm very confused. What part of the heater is plastic? Mine (1500) is entirely metal. |

Early type heaters had the blower separate to the heater element joined by a hose. The blower in this case is made of plastic. Cheers Tim |

WD40 shines up plastic quite nicely. About the only thing I have ever found it useful for! |

Heatgun to sweat all the contaminants out of the plastic Rub with decent cloth whilst you heat the plastic Surpisingly, peanut butter buffed into the plastic will leave a long lasting shine, even more so than any of the usual spray on guff |

Most, if not all, of David's list are silicon based. |
