MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget side screens.
I recently purchased a Mk2 Sprite and found many curious differences from what I thought were standard fitment. The most curious is that the sidescreens have Glass rather than Perspex panes. One fixed and one sliding in both sides. I've never, ever seen this before but the most puzzling aspect is how the h**l did they fit the glass? Rob |

How very odd - never heard of that. How are the little handles stuck on? I hope it's safety glass. When I fitted new perspex I didn't have to bend it, because without the felt the panes just about went in. Then the felt was fed in between pane and frame. For the fixed pane, I could bend the frame out enough to get it in, slide it forward into position, and then squeeze the frame to hold. Les |

There are no little handles stuck on! Maybe a security feature!!!!! I'll get a photo when it stops raining. Rob |

Two photos of the drivers side sidescreens, front and rear section showing glass with kite marks meaning (I suppose) it is toughened safety glass. Rob ![]() ![]() |

Rob, I've never heard of glass in a sidescreen for a Spridget, fantastic though slightly scary |

Could you get any date or info from the BSI numbers to the glass to see if it was a later add-in? (in case I got the wrong thread) |
