MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget tonneau sticks

I was thinking of making a set of tonneau sticks, but have never actually seen a pair in the flesh! The tubing is no great problem, but the shape of the ends where they fit onto the car are. Would some kind soul be able to take a photo of one of the ends in profile, preferable with a ruler or tape so I can scale it properly.
regards to all

Tony

They vary by model type. What year/model is your car?

Sorry Dave - must have been dreaming - it's a '77 1500!
Tony Wood

1500 did not have the sticks because of the head rests

Mark, I don't know why that would be.

The main benefit of the sticks is that they hold the rear of the tonneau taut when you fold both front sections down behind the seats.

to quote the good book

Mark the book is not very good in many ways. The description is for fitting the tonneau fully over the cockpit while parked; however when travelling there is a second position where the rear part is left in place and the front (larger) part is folded in two and then dropped over the tonneau rail down behind the seats. There are stud posts on the heel panel for it to fasten on to.

Tony, here's some pics. If you decide you don't want to make one you could always buy this one...

Very neat, but I never quite understood the concept of buying an open sports car, then fitting a device to stop the wind getting in your hair - thought that was the whole point!
David Smith

I have a windstop on my TF, although I don't think that it makes much difference.
Dave O'Neill 2

Windstops, or wind-deflectors as I keep calling them by mistake, also stop a lot of the wind from hitting your shoulders and back of neck, very useful when the wind is a lot cooler or cold during top-down drives in late autumn, winter and early spring.

Wind in your hair depends on whether you wear a hat or have little or no hair or too much long hair to control. When I can I do prefer wind in my hair thoug, as long as the wind's not too cold
