MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Moss Cross flow head

Does anyone out there have any experience with this new cross flow head?

That head has been available since 2011, so you should be able to find someone with experience with it.

We had to work hard to make these flow well and the spark plug was very shrouded and needed TLC to sort. The head worked well but we are still researching. We haven't achieved its theoretical bhp yet! Our 'guinea pig' is playing with throttle bodies and megajolt at the moment. The throttle bodies showed a couple of bhp less than the Webers which comes as no surprise when you realise the injectors spray and not atomise as the Weber does. Throttle bodies better for fuelling at lower rpms though!

Thanks Peter. I'm looking hard at this head right now. It's difficult to get information - even Moss doesn't have much yet. Because of my CR and cam I can't go with a supercharger without a lot of changes.With this head and the Webers...I like the looks .

They do look good but seem expensive especially as you will need to get it ported to get the best results.

In standard form they are only a little better than a standard CI head in terms of flow. They will make more power due to separate ports. In modified form at 1.401" valve they flow more than a fully modded CI head of 1.401" valve size.

Thanks again Peter. What you say about flow is surprising. I would have expected a bigger difference. I will look into the porting issue prior to making a decision.
