That does not look like a new shell and it does not look like a body nr. It also does not look like a chassis nr |

its not a new shell just new to me its in better shape than mine |

the 3 1500 shells I have records for all have body numbers starting GB47T- so that does look odd. Could it be USA spec re-imported? |

Looks like that plate has been welded in there to me--My guess is it-Might have had a new slam panel at some time and had the original stamped section transfered to the new panel willy |

I don't know if this is why you are asking, but the govt. regulations (UK) say that if rebuilding into a second hand body shell, the car has to be registered as that shell, not as the car that the parts have come from. So you need the paperwork that goes with the shell. Strictly speaking the only way to retain it as your original car is to either fit it all to a brand new unused bodyshell, or to repair your original - even in theory if this involves replacing every panel! |

The later 1500s did have the body number there. There is a picture on p136 of Horler, with the caption "A body number was now included on the bonnet slam panel for all markets", but I can't find the date in the text. |
