MG Midget and Sprite Technical - No Heater Being Fitted
Hi I have decided not to fit the heater back in the sebring rep as per the original cars but am unsure what to with the outlet at the back of the head where the tap would normally be Seem to have 3 options :- 1 blank it off and use front rad hose with no heater take off but ws worried about heat at the back of the head 2. Use adaptor at back and just join direct to front hose so that water can flow 3. As no 2 but still use heater tap not sure if being able to turn it off would add anything though Any thoughts appreciated Thanks Andy |

Andy, If you go with No 1 and need a blanking plate I have an original one you can have. R |

Just make sure that if you choose 2 or 3, you connect the heater tap outlet (from the head) to the TOP radiator hose, not the original bottom hose. The bottom hose is the cool water intake to the engine. The top hose is the hot water outlet from the engine. Since what is coming from the heater tap is hot, you want to send it to the radiator for cooling, rather than back into the engine. Maybe you already knew this, but I just wanted to make sure. Or just tap the top sect of the rad and plumb it in there I thought the top hose had the small connectiin for the heater core...am i wrong |

My car has no heater fitted, and runs with option 1 (blanking plate) no problems. Common arrangement here in Australia. |

Loads of cars just ruin with it blanked and have no issue what so ever. It's by far the easiest option. Any old bit of 2mm or thicker metal with the right holes should do if you can't get hold of a proper plate. |
