More parts that seems to have walked out of the garage by themselves.. So dipsticks are they all interchangeable or from which cars and engines would i need to look for one to my 1275 engine? Thanks Alex |

Hi All Thread Hijack My oil dipstick is very loose in the tube. Should there be some sort of 'o'ring at the top to hold it in place? Its so loose that even going over a bump a bit too fast could cause it to bounce out. Thanks Ian |

On the racer, I used a carburettor spring to hold it in place. The other end was attached to a bracket on the distributor clamp plate. |

I couldnt get the o ring to fit into the plastic tube very well ... I used black vinal electrical tape wound several times around that bevel section and trimmed it close then applied some black electrical heat shrink over the black electrical tape for a nice finish... and it sets and seals into the plastic dip stick tube nicely Also, with the sump pan off I was able to remove the plastic dip stick holder and place an o-ring around the bottom of the dip holder and place it back into the engine block for a much better fit and air tight seal... Basically anything to help hold the engine vacume inside the crankcase to aid the scroll seal to do its job...other wise whats the point of a metered air hole in the valve cover oil cap... if your sucking air in from ever gap in the block Prop |
