Great to see another one back on the road. Looks good. Now get out there and drive the wheels off of it. |

Oh, very pretty car. The colours look good and you should be commended. Congratulations!! Clare |

Well done. Nice colour combination. Has it always been yours for the 34 years? '65 with later type hood? Is it a Heritage shell? Was it difficult to adapt all the '65 stuff to it? Mine's a '65 and it was off the road for 37 years, but the shell was rebuildable. Isn't it great when you go for your first drive. |

Thanks to Martin, Clare and Bernie. Yes, Bernie - the first drive was amazing. I'd been without a Spridget 'on the road' for three years, and had missed it so much. But, it needed to go to fund the completion this one. I bought this one for £350, now christened 'Iris' (of course), as a VERY rusty, however quite complete car in November 2010. I made a start, but soon realised the rust was far worse than I could have imagined. Whilst I had purchased panels to rebuild, my welding skills are not brilliant. I was on the 'net one night, and someone offered a Heritage shell - wait for it - for £1800, buy it now, but collect immediately. As always, there is a catch when something is so cheap..... The seller had bought the shell six years previously, but never got around to a rebuild. It was in a 'lean to' but air was able to circulate. When I checked with Heritage, they at first couldn't recognise the body number. It appears that it was a very early production item which they advised pre dated MGRv8 builds! All that having been said, It was stilll more than worth it. Yes, I've had several awkward situations, where 'holes' and/or captive nuts were either wrongly placed or not there at all, but that's all part of it isn't it? Oh, and I've learned an awful lot on the way! John. |
