MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Popit throttle disk vs solid throttle disk
On my '73 the emission control system componets are removed. Would it be advisable to remove the popit throttle disk and replace them with the solid throttle discs and if so what are the advantages? |

Hi Jon, the main advantage would be less air obstruction through the carb. As to whether you would feel any difference I couldn't say. Maybe someone on here has done this and had first hand experience. Thanks Mark |

Not only that but it makes the carbs easier to adjust and it is one less thing to go wrong! Imagine the clip breaking and the pieces going in the engine.... it has happened. just solder them shut and you will be fine |

Ive still got the popits... I used jb weld ... I feared soilder would melt in a back fire, but many have done it I will get new shafts and butters and odds ends this winter as im now going to keep my Hs2 carbs instead of upgrade to duel hs4 carbs Prop |

I think the popit just help on overrun, they let a little air in so you don't backfire. Any thing SU added as an emission bodge has got to be viewed as surplus - i'd remove them. |

I'll take the advice and replace them and the throttle shafts while I'm there. Thanks |
