MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Put my car on a rolling road :)
Hi everyone! I put my car on a rolling road today, and the attached is the result. Red line is power Green is torque Dotted lines are the first run before tuning, solid is after. 42.9 bhp to 68.1 bhp torque curve is smooth, best result on torque was 78 lb/ft, at least it doesn't plummet on torque now! Feels like a different car :D ![]() |

What did you do to it? Was all this achieved just by adjusting the carbs and the timing? How much? And what made the biggest difference? Very curious... :-) Tore |

The mixture was a bit weak, there was also a flat spot. The carb was not opening fully so I never had full power. Timing was also off slightly. all in all it was a few small things which caused the issues together. At least I have torque now :) It cost me £110 for about 1 1/2 hours which was rather good. It pulls better now and is even more fun, it's just a happier car |

New vacuum unit too wasn't it? |

the vacuum unit was working, the seal was not as good as it could be, that's been sorted too. mechanical advance was fine, all in all I am rather pleased |

Wow! That's a pretty impressive improvement for £110 and an hour and a half. I bet you are pleased with that! |

good news Rylan, big improvement in performance you should notice a huge difference now you should notice more if the cars not on song, well engine and carb anyway keep driving it regularly and the car could still get even better overall and with regular servicing you should maintain this performance or even improve on it, there's more to the car than just the engine and carb after all pity you don't live nearer Peter Burgess as he's even better value perhaps if you're driving that way in a year or two's time go out and enjoy it now a tankful of miles at least tomorrow |
