MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear hub oil seal removal

Hi

Any tips please for removing a rear hub inner oil seal? I have seen the Sprite Mania video which he uses a small screwdriver from the back then a hook shaped oil seal puller from the front (looks too easy, and was not) - but my seal is stuck hard.

I have cut away what I can with a Stanley knife, but concerned about scratching the surface.

Heat? Chemicals?

Cheers

find a socket or piece of steel tube that is just smaller than the hub rear aperture and drive it out with a BFH.

I normally drive a screwdriver between the seal and the hub, from behind, then lever it out.

There isn't really much you can damage.

yes the screwdriver method works for me too. It can be tight.
Bob Beaumont

I think I used a screwdriver to bend them inwards, then they come out fairly easily.

How did you get on?
