MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Release Bearing for Frontline Gearbox

Does anyone know what release bearing frontline used in their Toyota gearbox conversions?
R Lawrence

I have the standard 1275 carbon bearing fitted and I assume that was the normal part used.
However, my installion is the earlier type that utilised a custom bellhousing and when that source dried up, Frontline used an adapter plate with the Toyota bellhousing. I believe the beariong was unchanged but if not, I'll soon be corrected!.

Mine has got some sort of ball bearing fitted, but as it is around 21 years since I fitted it I'm not 100% certain. I think mine has the adaptor plate rather than the custom bellhousing.

Frontline have just informed me that AP no longer supply the 6 1/2 inch clutch plate. Is this true?
R Lawrence

Info I copied from previous comments on this subject gave the AP part CP2323-11. I believe it was a AP Racing part. Try calling 01706 860088 and ask for 'John'(or it was a couple of years ago). If the part is no longer available there is a firm not too far away in Arlesey that might be able to build a uprated clutch plate for you. They made a couple for me a few years ago.

Have you got contact details for the firm in Arlsey?
R Lawrence

They now have a web page http://www.autoandindustrial.globalhire.co.uk/html/clutch_relining___repair.html
Since the component parts of the unit are from another era, advisable to take the old part along to enable a component match of worn bits.

Thanks for that, next step get a replacement for the release bearing.I guess that will have to wait until it is out if no one knows tthe bearing number.
R Lawrence

Just heard back from Frontline and they are suggesting the release bearing is a 2/W40. Anyone know where I might find one?
