MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rostyle wheelnuts
Hi Do Rostyle wheels have different wheelnuts from early standard steel wheels (non-Rostyle)? Do they have a different radius? (I've got a set of the later style Rostyles cluttering up the garage that I am thinking of using either for winter tyres, or for a set of 'wet tyres' for hillclimbs, to replace my standard steel wheels on a Mk2 Sprite). I remember forum posts warning of wonky Rostyles caused by over-tightening wheel nuts. Cheers Mike |

Rostyles have different nuts, they are closed-ended and either chromed or stainless. Don't know if the taper is different though. |

Tapers and stud spacings the most critical. Tapers create the friction to stop the nut coming off so very important and if the spacing not right the studs flex and eventually snap off, also very important. I don't know the answer, just trying to be helpful. |

Thanks Dave Best wishes Mike |

IIRC the Rostyles have a straight sided taper on the nut whereas the earlier pressed steel wheels used a domed nut to suit the dish nut recesses so not interchangeable. |

The rostyles definitely have a straight taper. |
