MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rust prevention
Chaps Pursuant to previous post, I have located a pair of front discs which I inteend to fit up. However, has anyone any suggestions as to how to keep the hubs nice and shiny.... the old ones are horribly rust coloured. Quick mop and polish with a coat or two of lacquer perhaps? Cheers Mark |

I'd clean all of the old rust off and before the new rust starts to form, I'd put on some high temperature paint like they use on headers. |

I'd suggest PJ1 exhaust paint. Comes in rattle cans in a range of colours. Good stuff. |

Chaps I would prefer to keep the original metal finish...... |

Ah. Then maybe lacquer as you said previously. RS clear circuit board lacquer is pretty tough and heat-tolerant. |

I suggest avoiding all contact between your hubs and H2O. :- |

I would use something like Hammerite Kurust. Its very easy, quick and non messy to apply and you end up with a nice black matt finish with the original texture still showing through. I use this on things like bumper irons as well - it seems to last without overpainting - off course you need a little bit of surface rust to start with, and if you don't like the finish - then you can paint over it |
