Looks like a new manufacturer - Brook Fab - of Sebring Sprite pedal boxes in Northern Ireland. Anyone seen/bought/installed one as the.quality seems promising?:

Handy tweak for MkI and early MkII Sprite owners with front disc brake conversions from later model cars who want to use easily sourced good quality Girling type, or genuine Girling, integral reservoir master cylinders - from the likes of Merlin Motorsport, Raceparts etc - as an alternative to the combined dual master cylinder (which you can now find genuine AP Caparo 3/4" units for the disc brake version from Powertrack Brakes and IIRC from David Manners too as well as the more readily available 7/8" unit for front drum brakes; noting some reports of issues with TRW 3/4" dual master cylinders).

Looking at the nice looking machined spacer from Brook Fab, compared to the Archer's one I am about to install. I am using 3/4" Girling master cylinder for brakes and a 7/8" clutch master cylinder for my smooth case gearbox that goes with the 948cc engine (the clutch master cylinder is ether going to be an OBP integral 7/8" item as apparently no Girling master cylinders are available in that size with an integral reservoir, or use a non-internal 7/8" Girling with plastic add on Girling reservoir that sits on it: https://www.burtonpower.com/mini-brake-fluid-reservoir-vertical-fitment-brk047.html [they also sell a larger reservoir but do not know if it would fit in a Sebring pedal box: https://www.burtonpower.com/small-brake-fluid-reservoir-vertical-fitment-brk045.html])

I nagged pete (brookfab) to start making these a few years back atfter he made me a custom oil catch tank that fitted in the passenger "pedal box" hole. The end product is mighty fine and the quality is fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate in ordering anything from him. He's an absolute perfectionist and things may take time, but thats because he wants to get it perfect. . Im literally fitting them both over the next few weeks (having been on the shelf for a bit) so will try and follow up with some photos. I have no financial interest in petes products just a very happy customer.

Thanks Alan - following your helpful tip I have looked at Wilwood integral master cylinders at Rally Design but unfortunately they do not do a 7/8inch version for the clutch to suit my 948cc car with smooth case gearbox (would make more sense if I upgraded to a 1275 engine and gearbox!) but do sell a 3/4" model for the brakes.

Dan - great to hear that the quality of the new Sebring Sprite pedal boxes from Brook Fab are as good as they look. Have you got any pics of the oil catch tank please - that sounds like a neat solution. What car and spec are you running as sounds interesting?

going to move the vented rocker and tappet chest to the catch tank. Possibility of venting the fuel pump take off but not sure its tuned enough to need it. had 3 intakes built into the catch tank just incase.

smoothcase gearbox but with 1098 gearset internals and 948 9 spring clutch set up with a 948 roller release bearing (despite alans best efforts to get me to convert to a 1098CC setup :) - thanks again alan for all the helpful discussion)
Gone for dual 3/4 master cylinders to try and ease the 9 spring clutch feel a little.
3/4 rear brake cylinders from morris minor on frogeye drum and backplates at the back.

Disclaimer: I have yet to use the pedal box in anger on the road as the car is not yet back together so cannot vouch 100% for it!

Thank you very much for the kind words.

As Dan says, it was his perseverence after Mark Boldry suggested I make him one (years ago) that kicked off the process.

We all know the drawings are available through Martins site, but it was soon aparent that we needed to approach this from scratch.

As we stand now, unfortunately there are still one or two orders outstanding from the first batch, between workload, an operation late last year and now Covid the pedal boxes sadly fell onto the backburner.

My intention is to have at least a couple of variations sitting on the shelf ready to go instead of being built to order, but as I am sure you can imagine, none of this journey has been cheap or even remotely viable financially, this was purely due to my love of Mk1 Midgets.

I do understand they are dearer than Archers were doing them (although the same price if you account for inflation) but I hope those who have seen or used them can appreciate the effort that has gone into them, from the tig welded construction, billet spacer block, precision machined pivot bolt, replacable oilite pedal bushes, billet clevis pins, stainless parts and even the powdercoating is a multi stage process where they are blasted, zinc primed then coated in colour - a far cry from the usual industrial standard coatings that generally don't last.

I would also like to extend a massive thank you to all those who have purchased them and my profuse apologies to those still waiting on theirs.

I will get a proper post written up and post to www.brookfab.co.uk when I finally get my s**t together, and make sure that any future orders are quick and painless for the customer.
