MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Self locking door

One door lock on the car has started behaving strangely, and I would appreciate some help in suggesting remedies.

Fortunately the door card is not yet fitted. The door is the one without the locking tab in the internal handle. The door will open and close a few times, then on one closing it will not latch on the striker, the following attempt it will close and latch, but also lock in the closed position. It will open again only when the tab for the internal locking function is moved backwards and then forwards again.

Why is the lock activating on its own
How do I fix it
How do I get the lock mechanism out of the door to inspect it and rectify any issues,

The lock mechanism has the tab, the escutcheon does not have the lever to activate it

Hmmm... you might need to update your app for that...lol

Id say something is sticking or even worn, my house door lock does the same thing esp when cold outside

Probably just needs some cleaning and grafite powder

The latch mechanism turned out to be fine, but the pin for the lock was not seated in the slot in the latch, so it was moving around freely. Once set into the slot, everything works fine and I could fit the door card. I just have to fit the seat cover on the right seat back, fit the parcel shelf and the rear bulkhead and the interior is finished!
