MG Midget and Sprite Technical - slight water leak
Hi, in addition to my 'whats happened?' thread; When I first got the recent carb problem, the radiator lost a couple of hundred ml of fluid. I can now see a steady drip when tjhe engine is running and seems to be coming from the bottom of the timing cover. Can't see anything above that. Any ideas please? |

most likely coming from the water pump and running down the timing cover |

Yep second that |

Thanks. It's probably due to a bad view. remove the rad and water pump? |
aj robinson |
No... nip up the water pump bolts first of all... |

That's what I do but then a Frog has easy access to the rad bolts. Its a fairly straightforward swap over. Try and avoid getting a replacement pump with pressed steel vanes, the ones with cast vanes are more efficient. I would also renew the by pass hose at the same time. |

I'd also check the little bypass hose from the head to the water pump. These have a habit of going just when you don't want them to. |

I would go even more basic 1st Id try tightening the hose clamps before doing anything else Prop |
