MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Splash guards

Hi All
I have just bought some splash guards and brackets from Andy Jennings MG spares. Not quite sure how exactly they fit - if anyone has (or could take?) photos of the under-bonnet area looking forward I would be extremely grateful! Thank you!
Dom
PS it's a 1275 from 1970/71

dom... welcome back

do you mean the mud flaps behind the tires ???

I have.. or have 1 splash gaurd left

they mount to the body work of the wheel well lip, (not very well) the clip for lack of a better concept is a type.of friction clip... you put the splash gaurd in the wheel well next to the metal lip put the clip on, the screw doen the set screw until it holds firmly in place

key word being firmly inplace...these flaps tend to get caught any time the wheel makes contact with something bigger then the road gap to flap... being anytime I back up... I lose a splash gaurd flap...most common ...backing into the shop or any shop.for that matter...also high road windage esp in rain will tear these.flaps from there clips

if you find a solution... let me know

Hi Prop,
Thanks mate. Funeral takes place Wednesday, so won't be around much between tomorrow and the weekend.
No, the splash guards I mean are those that fit between the inner wing and the radiator cowl. On the 1275, later version, the UK passenger side has the radiator expansion bottle attached to the guard. I would imagine it's a similar fitting to the later 1500 version, just mirrored to reflect (ha ha) the opposite fitting of the fresh air intake.

Dom,
you'd be best asking someone like Johnno (Craddock - new bodyshell) for a photo where there is a bright coloured shell without the engine in as with the engine in and black on black don't make for the best photos for what you want

Dom,

photo attached from my 1275 '71 showing just the tops of the splash guards. They fit by being sandwiched between the upright radiator mountings and the radiator cowl. Mine was a real pita to get the bolts through all three, uprights, splash guard brackets and radiator cowl).
At the other end, the brackets fit on the outside of the inner wing and are bolted through the inner wing to captive nuts. Hope this makes sense and sorry don't have a picture specifically of the guards themselves.
If you're not too far away you're more than welcome to take a look as I'm near Southport.

see if this pic helps at all. As jeremy says, the radiator end bolts are a bugger to fit. The other ends fit behind the inner wings i.e. in the wheel arches and the brackets are handed so that the left one (with the overflow tank) fits flush against the bracket but the right hand one with the air intake has a gap between the splash panel and the bracket. You may find that you have to bend them a bit to fit and also check the tops are far enough inboard otherwise the bonnet may not close fully.

Thanks for the photos and info chaps.
Jeremy, that would be great if I could come over and take a few more pics some time. I'm coming over Southport way in the near future anyway - so will let you know when if I may, I can be flexible as long as not office hours!
Dom.

Cheers Jeremy, it'll be at least 3 weeks now, as the MG is being fixed near my parental home, and work commitments won't allow me to collect it till mid May now. Will be in touch.

Thanks Rob, that pic helps too, Dom.
