MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Sprite Seat belt mountings
| I have just purchased a 1965 Mk3 Sprite, and it's not fitted with seat belts. Can someone show me diagrammatically where the seat belt moi=unting points are, as the carpet is glued down and I don't want to rip it up to find them. Thanks for your help |

| Highest point of the inner wheel arches, about 4" out from the inside face of the side of the tub. That's a '71 car but there may have been different positions. The other 2 points are just above floor level at the rear of the inner sill and similar position on the side of the transmission tunnel. Should have welded in nuts/ bosses. |

| I think the wheel arch mounting point changed a couple of times during production, although I don’t have details for a ‘65 to hand. |

| My Sprite is an early Mk IV built in late 1966. I think you should be able to feel the raised mounting point bosses through any carpetting. try probing with a needle or something similar. C

| OK, I've just found this in Horler's OS&M book. The legend for the photo says that this type of seat was fitted from August '65, so it's a late Mk2. As you can see, the seat belt is retained by two small nuts/studs on top of the arch.

This is how I fitted them on my 65 MKII Midget.

| I fitted belts to my Frog, where no provision existed. Good diagrams with dimensions in the manual, but a longish job. Hope you won't need to do it. Lucky you - able to jump in the sea. |

| I can confirm the images Dave has posted from THE book are correct. Mine is a 66 and the same . Let me know if you need measurements but they should be pretty obvious through the carpet as the two studs stick up about 3/4 inch . |
