MG Midget and Sprite Technical - SU Carb set-up
Hi
Anyone got some tips please on set up of SU Carbs after rebuild? What baseline setting should I use for the throttle screw? (1.5 turns in?) This follows a carb rebuild including putting in the correct needles (replacing two different ones, neither listed for the car) and replacing one carb body due to broken casting (PO). Twin 1 1/4 inch HS2 on a 948cc Sprite. I have got the car running, but not sure on the throttle screw setting and daftly fiddled with that and now not running properly ... doh. I was doing another job, and had not read up on carbs for a while (this is a very long term rebuild) Cheers Mike PS I have seen the HS general and tuning advice on Burlen website, but not found advice on initial carb setting for throttle screw. |

Mike, isn't it covered in the Driver's Handbook(?) - if not does the SU Burlen website have such info (?sorry I can't remember at the moment - or about much else it seems). |

Mike. I rebuilt mine using standard AN needles and new jets. With the suction cambers off I brought the jets level and flush with the bridge and then dropped them down 60 thou..good starting point |
