MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Sump bolt dimensions
As the title. I need the length particularly of the four at the back on a 1500. |

The Moss site can be a handy reference Bolt sizes dont appear on the catalogue pages, but if you select the bolts you want and add them to your basket, at checkout it gives the size in the description - obviously dont buy your bolts from Moss, there are cheaper places..... |

5/16 x 3/4 using the above method for the rears, 5/16 x 5/8 for the others |

Didn’t realise that SG, thanks and thanks again. I have local bolt man but bolts in sump right now. Cheers, Dave |

Dave, you will find this saves time if you have the part number, from Paul Hunt's excellent mgb-stuff.org website that's loads of useful for Spridgets too - and available elsewhere - 'Translate Fastener Part Numbers to Description'. - http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/partnos.htm |

Just remembered those screws have a very low torque setting. |

The Moss site - and paper parts catalogue - can be misleading, to put it mildly.
For the MGB, it quotes three different lengths for the bellhousing bolts, and supposedly shows their locations. Unfortunately, the positions are incorrect, but you don’t discover this until you try to bolt the engine and gearbox together and find out that some of them are too long. In order to swap them, you need to separate the engine and gearbox, lift the engine out of the way, so that the gearbox can be lowered enough for the bolts to clear the bulkhead. Thanks Moss! |
